About this opportunity
Security aspects within the mobile networks becomes more and more important. IoT, 5G, virtualization, all exciting and ambitious areas that highlight the importance of an E2E security attitude.
The security sector within Engineering Unit Integrated RAN (EUIR), CSI Product Security, is the overall EUIR product security competence center and we are now looking for persons to strengthen Ericsson’s ability building security solutions going forward. Some examples of operational responsibility areas residing in this unit are:

Early system security conceptual studies and strategies, for outlining future security functionality of RAN products and be part of Security Standardization activities.
Security Assurance, including Threat modelling, Security risk analysis and management, to ensure outstanding RAN product security posture.
Participate in Regulatory security engagements, with various entities like European, UK, India and US regulatory authorities, to coordinate, align and influence requirements put on Operators and Vendors in Mobile RAN product development.



The position is as a System Developer role and the work includes activities to systemize security features and that secure products and features done in a secured way. Activities include driving high level studies to define requirements moving forward and to take the requirements to implementation proposals. The work also includes securing appropriate processes and development flow related to product security.

This will require ability to cooperate with different people and organizations and the ability to understand different functions and solutions quickly.
Example of area to work with: security aspects on 5G, IoT, new standards (ORAN), introduction of new HW, etc.

What you will do
Have the overall responsibility of a System manager, establish and execute system studies to break down Ericsson Product Security strategies to requirements on RAN products. Next step is to take those requirements and propose how they can be realized in different RAN products, bringing technical issues and choices to conclusion in a timely manner.
Participate in and do Security Risk Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments, Statement of compliance for internal and external product security requirements.
Take an Ericsson end-to-end responsibility for product security.



You will bring
Product Development knowledge.
Security knowledge, for example security protocols like TLS, certificate handling, Security Assurance (security in the processes) etc.
An ability to plan and drive your work, and also work in teams to reach common goals.
An ability to adapt and respond quickly to change and deliver results to meet (and exceed) customer expectations.
A creative and innovative approach and the ability to work easily with other people.
Knowledge and preferably work experience from at least one radio standard (GSM, WCDMA or LTE), network technology (LAN, WAN, MPLS, IPSec), O&M and/or Radio Base Station, RBS, knowledge.
Excellent English communication skills.
Technical education on university level.

What you will do

Deep understanding of various storage technologies. This includes knowledge of different storage types like SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), DAS (Direct Attached Storage), and cloud storage solutions (Understanding of cloud storage services like AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage, as many organizations are adopting hybrid or multi-cloud storage). Familiarity with storage protocols (e.g., SCSI, NFS, SMB).
Programming experience in object-oriented programming languages such as C/C++, PowerShell, Ansible and Phyton.
Excellent speaking and writing skills in English.
Experience in any of the following areas - Virtualization, cloud, container technologies, development of microservices, SW architecture and agile methods and continuous integration is beneficial.

The Engineering Environment and Experience Product Engineering Unit (PEU EEE) is a newly created organization within Integrated RAN (IR) Engineering Unit (EU) to drive Developer Experience and Technology evolution and optimization of the E2E production system flows to best support the RAN SW products and the developer’s needs. This unit will also enable and facilitate the Networks R&D digitalization transformation and support all Ericsson products with Ericsson Product Public Key Infrastructure (EPKKI) services. The unit consists of around 1300 engineers globally including partners and sub-contractors.
The sector “Development Flow Services” is end-to-end responsible for the Software Engineering Flow within Integrated RAN. The portfolio includes Market Place, IDE, build systems, test frameworks, code analyzers and many other groups of tools and services used when developing software. The organization also provides cloud platforms, foundation services and NW infrastructure as well as lab services and corresponding platforms.
The organization consists of 300 highly competent and engaged employees and partners, and welcomes You to join the team.
The section “Infrastructure 3” is, together with the two other infrastructure sections, an important part of creating the future Developer experience with regards to Cloud platforms, automation frameworks, NW infrastructure, Lab IT and E2C operations. What you will do

Design, implement and review software based on requirement specifications for the Cloud RAN software by using Cloud Native paradigms, mainly based on C++ in a Linux environment.
Create automated tests in multiple layers for the software you and your team write, both unit tests in C++ as well as multi-component tests in the Ericsson-developed language Erlang.

We are now looking for a NR System Characteristics developer in the area of RAN Product Characteristics.
The main responsibility for the characteristics group at NSV unit is focused on the product characteristic of the radio control software, embracing both 4G and 5G. For us, product characteristics is about performance, throughput, CPU (Central Processing Unit) utilization, latency etc. The product characteristics quality is in our focus / requires strong guardianship due to constant change of the product code.

What you will do
Develop methods, tools and collaborations within Ericsson and with partners in order to secure world class product characteristics.
Have close corporation with designers, other system departments and test groups.
Look towards 5G and beyond a more flexible and scalable architecture for 4G and 5G is a necessity, why the work with a new architecture suited for cloud deployment is ongoing.

The Traffic Control SW Production is focusing on the infrastructure of tools and services required to develop applications. It consists of design environments, Continuous Integration pipelines (CI flow) and Test Environments, enabling the development teams to deliver quality assured code to be deployed on both native and cloud-based execution platforms. The infrastructure itself is multifaceted, and lower layers are handled and developed in cooperation with and by other organizations within Ericsson to enable reuse and sharing.

What you will do

In the System Department for 5G Radio Access Networks within Ericsson Product Development, we are extending our group of system developers in the area of Traffic Control and Optimization. What you will do
The major part of this work is to, together with the test organization, evaluate the current software (SW) status by looking at what test cases that have been passed and if there are unanswered trouble reports. You will contribute with the system view to get the full quality evaluation.
You will also be a leader in the team and help steer the work and make sure that the team drives improvements that will lead to better SW quality in the future.
A third important factor is to be a link between system and verification to ensure that test results and findings are also known to persons working in system studies.

We are now looking for a System Leader/Technical Product and Portfolio Manager (TPM) to join the Strategic System Leader team that works with the high-level technical systemization for the Cloud RAN portfolio. In this work cooperation with the Cloud RAN key customers is vital, to understand the customer needs, a breakdown of customer input to technical requirements as well as technical customer presentation. We are now looking for a team member in the TPM team that leads the strategic key customer cooperation within the Cloud RAN E2E system project. The system groups with E2E systemization in the timeframe ~1-3 year before product is planned to be released.
Development unit PDU Cloud RAN has a small E2E Strategic System Development lead (SSL)/ Technical Product and Portfolio Management (TPM) team. The team works with technical investigations, support for strategic customer cooperation, produces decision material, build, and maintain to the Cloud RAN technical portfolio plan.



You are part of Cloud RAN E2E System Lead project that is responsible for defining the E2E Cloud RAN target architecture, the architectures and systemization of features that goes cross product development groups (e.g., Cloud RAN OAM, licensing, provisioning, troubleshooting…), E2E security, E2E System performance and the Cloud RAN Technical Product and Portfolio content.
The split architecture, the Cloud Native infrastructure and the journey towards micro services puts new demands on the systemization, on new and changed functionality, on observability, on trace and not least the way of working.
PDU Cloud RAN is a small development unit, and you will be part of a highly upbeat and tech focused team, defining midterm product development strategies and systemization for the virtualized product offering.



What you will do

Be a key member of the overall Cloud RAN Strategic System Lead/ Technical Product and Portfolio Management team, ensuring that we as a company succeed in delivering an excellent cloud native RAN offering to our customers.
Take the technical lead in supporting product line and customer units in strategic customer engagements, 1-3 years before Cloud RAN releases, and bringing forward innovative solutions that are in line with the capabilities of the organization.
Drive and align a high-level technology plan and high-level system description that describes the needed steps and timing for the Cloud RAN Journey.
Drive and/or participate in coordinating the analysis and planning for new requirements or solutions that are driven from customers, product line, other functional units within Cloud RAN and other Ericsson units.
Lead and/or participate in technical system studies, producing technical decision material, cost estimates, small business cases and make buy analysis.

You will bring

An academic degree: MSc, PhD or equivalent.
5+ years of experience of system work developing large scale products.

Extensive experience of strategic technical cooperation with large key customers.

Do you want to be part of crafting super-fast product flows for Ericsson 5G products? To get the product to the customer we need tools, services and interfaces that make it possible to build, test and release software products on a scale that very few other companies in the world can handle.
We are now on the journey towards a CI/CD (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment) setup that is based on cloud native principles and technologies that can produce software for both cloud and custom hardware at extremely large scale.
To do this we want to integrate best practices and technologies from open source with internal solutions needed for Ericsson products and custom hardware into a development platform that gives developers full access to all needed services and tools and allows us to create CI/CD pipelines from code to customer with full automation. The platform will be based on Kubernetes with containerized services and CI/CD that can be used by other tools teams and product developers to add their specific needs on top.


The team that you are part of works with architecture, design, development, operation and support. That includes work with the architecture and development team and continuous look for what’s new on the market. This also includes driving environment/process improvements and optimizing the usability and stability of the environment, as well as handling day-to-day issues/tasks. The team seeks to automate as many as of the manual work tasks as possible of the manual work tasks using built-in analytics and to continue crafting microservice systems, so experience and competence in automation and test will be necessary.
The team is a part of organization that has a mission to build an engineering environment that provides outstanding time-to-market, cost efficiency and with excellent quality, both for present and future business needs. What you will do
Work with the software product and feature development delivering microservices for the Cloud RAN Traffic Control Unit domain.
Work with E2E and Module Systemization.
Adopt cloud native technology and principles.
Prototype new ideas and concepts.
Work with the design, implementation, and optimization of AI algorithms.
Validate, analyze, and evaluate models.
Work with algorithm training, validation, and testing.
Work collaboratively with customers to improve the product (DevOps).



You will bring
MSc or BSc level in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent level of knowledge.
Minimum 2 years of industry experience in AI powered software development.
Experience in Machine Learning techniques such as reinforcement learning, federated learning, transfer learning, deep learning, imitation learning, multi-agent systems, pattern recognition and classification.
Programming skills in Python, object-oriented programming languages such as C/C++, other programming languages are highly valuable as well.
Experience in Linux and working with open source.
Experience in any of the following areas - Virtualization, cloud, container technologies, development of microservices, SW architecture and agile methods and continuous integration.
Good knowledge of cloud such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS and Azure.
A spirit of positiveness and creativeness with a can-do-attitude.
Great communicating skills.
Team-spirit mentality to reach common goals together with your team.
A great deal of care for well-crafted software.
Ability to work in international and multi-site teams.

Development Services and Infrastructure (DSI) Simulators is responsible for providing User Equipment (UE) Simulators to the Product Development Units (PDUs). We’re supporting PDUs, like Baseband, Traffic Control and Cloud RAN, with simulator solutions used to verify the software delivered to Ericsson’s end customers.
